Update: 26/10/2021
As part of our continued commitment towards supporting the Bears of Sheffield campaign, we are delighted to announce that the SCE Group was able to secure a bear at the recent auction.
The campaign was all in aid of the Sheffield Children's Hospital, to fund a new Cancer and Leukaemia ward. The department treats children from babies through to 19-year-olds, in South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, and as far as Northampton. The target was to offer patients the facilities to match the world-class care they received.
During the initial stages of the campaign, the SCE Group sponsored Sky, a bear that was designed by the hugely talented Oli Frape. Whilst we were unable to secure this particular bear during the recent auction, our persistence paid off and we are proud to announce that Stony Point now joins the SCE Group, as a statement of our support for this fantastic cause.
The auction (Hosted by Dan Walker) raised a phenomenal £525,000 and we are thrilled to have played our part.
Simon Eastwood, Chairman of the SCE Group said,
"We were delighted to be a part of the Herd of Sheffield and now the Bears of Sheffield. Having had children that have been treated at Sheffield Children's Hospital, I understand the need to support this amazing institution."
Our new bear will be taking pride of place at our head office in Sheffield, alongside the elephant that we purchased previously during the "Herd of Sheffield" campaign.
UPDATE: The Children's Hospital Charity have confirmed that the Bears of Sheffield campaign raised a total of over £750,000. This has beaten all expectations and means that enough has been raised for the new Cancer and Leukaemia Ward at Sheffield Children's. The new ward will hopefully open at the beginning of next year.
